EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — The Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday signed former Gonzaga standout Drew Timme to a two-way contract and waived center Christian Koloko to open the roster spot.
Under league rules, Timme can be active for up to 40 NBA regular-season games while remaining eligible to play for the South Bay Lakers in the G League.
The 23-year-old forward went undrafted in 2023 but impressed in the G League with the Long Island Nets, averaging 12.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 2.2 assists late last season. Brooklyn later signed him to a two-year deal, picked up his option over the summer and then released him during the preseason.
Timme’s strong play has continued in 2024. He averaged 25.0 points per game in NBA Summer League action and is off to a fast start in the G League Tip-Off Tournament, posting 28.3 points, 6.5 rebounds and 4.5 assists across four games for South Bay.
Koloko, 24, joined Los Angeles in the offseason after two years with Toronto. He appeared in 37 NBA games last season but saw only limited minutes this fall before being waived.
