Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic confirmed he has called off his engagement to longtime partner Anamaria Goltes while the pair navigate a custody dispute involving their two daughters.

“I love my daughters more than anything and I’ve been doing everything I can for them to be with me in the U.S. during the season, but that hasn’t been possible,” Doncic said in a statement to ESPN. “So I recently made the tough decision to end my engagement. Everything I do is for my daughters’ happiness and I will always fight to be with them and give them the best life I can.”

Goltes recently filed a petition in California seeking child support and attorney fees, according to multiple reports. ESPN reported that Doncic was unaware of the filing until after it had been submitted.

Doncic and Goltes have known each other since childhood and began dating in 2016. The four-time All-Star proposed in 2023. Their first daughter, Gabriela, was born later that year while Doncic was playing for the Dallas Mavericks. Their second daughter, Olivia, was born in Slovenia in December 2025, prompting Doncic to miss two games earlier this season to attend the birth.

The 27-year-old is in the first full season of a three-year contract extension with the Lakers. He is averaging an NBA-best 32.5 points along with 8.4 assists and 7.8 rebounds.
