Luka Doncic was ruled out for the remainder of Thursday night’s matchup between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Philadelphia 76ers after experiencing soreness in his left leg, the Lakers announced.

The 26-year-old guard had been seen clutching his hamstring on several possessions before heading to the locker room with 3:03 remaining in the second quarter. Team officials listed the issue as soreness; a more serious strain would likely sideline him for a longer period.

Doncic has already missed eight contests this season and has logged heavy minutes when available. Through 41 appearances, he is averaging an NBA-leading 33.4 points, along with 8.7 assists and 7.9 rebounds in 36 minutes per game.

If the All-Star is forced to sit out additional games, the Lakers plan to redistribute ball-handling duties. Austin Reaves, still on a minutes restriction after a calf strain, could see more on-ball opportunities, while LeBron James would assume a larger playmaking role. Recently acquired guard Luke Kennard might also experience an increase in usage.
