LOS ANGELES — Guard Gabe Vincent will be sidelined for a minimum of seven days after being diagnosed with lower back tightness, the Lakers announced Thursday morning.

The team said Vincent will be re-evaluated in approximately one week, keeping him out of the club’s upcoming three-game road swing against the Jazz on Thursday, the Clippers on Saturday and the Suns next Tuesday. His status for the Dec. 25 home matchup against the Rockets remains uncertain.

Vincent, who signed with Los Angeles as a free agent in 2023, appeared in only a handful of games last season because of a knee injury. He has reestablished his place in the rotation this year, averaging 4.7 points and 1.4 assists across 21.5 minutes in 14 games, including six starts, while shooting 35.0 percent from the field and 36.2 percent from three-point range.

This is the 29-year-old’s second extended absence of the 2025-26 campaign; he previously missed 11 consecutive contests in October and November with a sprained ankle.

With Vincent unavailable and Austin Reaves still nursing a calf strain, head coach Darvin Ham is expected to lean more heavily on Luka Dončić and Marcus Smart. Two-way guard Nick Smith Jr. could also see additional minutes off the bench.
