Los Angeles Lakers guard Gabe Vincent will be sidelined for approximately two to four weeks after an MRI revealed damage to his left ankle, according to reports from ESPN’s Shams Charania and Dave McMenamin.
Vincent, who started the Lakers’ first three games, was injured on Sunday. TNT’s Chris Haynes reported that the 28-year-old has a slight ligament tear along with additional sprained ligaments in the ankle.
Before Monday night’s home game against the Portland Trail Blazers, The Athletic’s Dan Woike observed Vincent wearing a walking boot and using crutches.
Vincent signed with Los Angeles in the summer of 2023 after helping the Miami Heat reach the NBA Finals. He has averaged 7.7 points and 2.3 assists in 27.0 minutes over his first three appearances this season.
The Lakers have not yet announced a corresponding roster move while Vincent recovers.
