The Los Angeles Lakers said Friday that forward Adou Thiero suffered a sprained MCL in his right knee and will be reevaluated in about four weeks.
The club did not specify when the 21-year-old rookie was injured. Thiero appeared in each of the team’s last six contests and 15 of its past 18, logging four minutes in the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s loss to Detroit.
This is Thiero’s second significant knee issue in two seasons. Surgery on his left knee during college contributed to his slide into the second round of the 2025 draft and kept him out of Summer League and preseason action. As a result, his NBA debut was delayed until Nov. 15.
Through 15 games, Thiero is averaging 1.3 points and 1.2 rebounds in 5.8 minutes while shooting 38.9 percent from the field.
The timing of the setback is challenging for Los Angeles, which is already without multiple rotation players. Austin Reaves is expected to miss at least three more weeks with a calf strain, Gabe Vincent has sat out the last six games due to lower back pain, and Rui Hachimura is managing right calf soreness.
