Dallas Mavericks point guard Kyrie Irving told fans he has no intention of speeding up his recovery from a torn left ACL and that a comeback date remains undetermined.
“There’s no timetable for when I’m coming back, so please don’t ask me,” Irving said during a recent Twitch stream, according to HoopsHype. “I’m going to be ready when I’m ready. I’m taking the necessary steps to put my best foot forward and I’m enjoying it.”
The 31-year-old suffered the injury in March 2023 during a game against the Sacramento Kings and underwent surgery later that month. Without Irving—and after trading Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers—the Mavericks struggled down the stretch and missed the postseason.
Irving thanked supporters for standing by him through what he called “down times” in his rehabilitation. “Naturally, I have doubt like everyone else,” he said, adding that encouragement from younger athletes and others recovering from ACL injuries has kept him motivated.
Dallas has not established a target date for Irving’s return, but team officials have indicated he is making steady progress.
