Several front-office sources around the NBA suspect the New York Knicks are quietly measuring the market for Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns, according to the latest trade roundup from veteran reporter Marc Stein.

Knicks linked to Towns despite public denials

Although New York officials have downplayed the possibility of moving for the five-time All-Star, rival clubs told Stein they believe Towns could become available under the right circumstances. At a minimum, executives think the Knicks want clarity on what it would cost to acquire the 30-year-old big man.

Towns is averaging 20.5 points, 11.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists on 46.9% shooting through 42 games this season while logging 31.6 minutes per night. His contract runs through 2027-28 and includes a $61 million player option in the final year.

New York also eyeing Jrue Holiday

Stein reports the Knicks have explored the feasibility of obtaining Jrue Holiday from the Portland Trail Blazers. Team officials reportedly view the six-time All-Defensive guard as an ideal partner for Jalen Brunson and believe his presence could help attract former Milwaukee teammate Giannis Antetokounmpo down the line.

Despite the high-profile names, sources close to the organization insist New York’s main focus remains on smaller deals, specifically ones involving forward Guerschon Yabusele, who earns $5.5 million this season and holds a $5.8 million player option for 2026-27.

Mavericks expected to keep Anthony Davis

In Dallas, the Mavericks continue to listen to proposals for injured center Anthony Davis, yet Stein notes there is little traction toward a trade. The 10-time All-Star, sidelined by a knee issue, is believed to prefer staying with the Mavericks through the end of the campaign.

Rockets declare Tari Eason off limits

The Houston Rockets have informed teams that forward Tari Eason is unavailable ahead of the deadline, Stein adds. Eason, 24, is converting a career-best 46.6% from beyond the arc this season and will enter restricted free agency this summer.

With the trade deadline approaching, executives across the league continue to monitor New York’s intentions on Towns and Holiday while keeping an eye on the Mavericks’ stance with Davis and the Rockets’ hard line on Eason.
