The New York Knicks plan to waive forward Tosan Evbuomwan before his two-way contract becomes fully guaranteed, according to SNY’s Ian Begley. The move was reported on January 7, 2026.

Evbuomwan, 24, joined New York in September after spending time on two-way deals with the Detroit Pistons and Brooklyn Nets. The former Ivy League Player of the Year at Princeton went undrafted in 2023 and has totaled 50 NBA appearances, including five brief stints—eight minutes of garbage-time action—this season with the Knicks.

With Westchester in the G League, the 6’8” forward averaged 17.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 1.3 steals across 12 games while shooting 42.7 percent from the field, 26.3 percent from three and 72.9 percent at the foul line.

Evbuomwan will receive only the prorated portion of his $636,435 salary. However, his $265,467 bonus for the Knicks’ NBA Cup championship last month nearly offsets that reduction.

If he clears waivers, the British native will become an unrestricted free agent on Friday. New York will open one of its three two-way slots beside wing Kevin McCullar Jr. and center Trey Jemison.
