Knicks to Re-evaluate Josh Hart in One Week as Injury Absences Mount

The New York Knicks will be without guard Josh Hart for at least another week while he continues to recover from a sprained right ankle, the team announced Friday via SNY’s Ian Begley.

Hart, 30, has been sidelined since injuring the ankle on December 25. According to the club, he has resumed light on-court activity and will undergo another evaluation in one week.

More lineup uncertainty

Hart’s absence is one of several recent roster disruptions for New York:

  • Mitchell Robinson missed his third consecutive game Friday as the team manages a left ankle issue. The Knicks said the center has experienced no setbacks.
  • Head coach Mike Brown remarked, “We’d rather have him than not. When we do, he protects us on the back side in a lot of different ways.”
  • Karl-Anthony Towns was a late scratch Friday because of illness after going through warm-ups, marking the five-time All-Star’s third missed game of the season.

With Hart out, second-year wing Kevin McCullar Jr. has logged heavier minutes and earned praise from Brown for his physicality and game awareness. “He does all the little things,” the coach said, citing McCullar’s toughness and ability to defend without fouling.

The Knicks continue to rely on their depth while awaiting the returns of multiple key contributors.
