NEW YORK — Free-agent wing Matt Ryan has accepted a non-guaranteed training-camp contract with the New York Knicks, according to the New York Post.

Ryan, 28, spent much of last season with the Knicks. He signed a non-guaranteed deal in October 2023, converted to a two-way contract in December, and was waived on March 1. During that stint he appeared in 19 games, logging 68 total minutes while scoring 28 points and grabbing eight rebounds.

Since making his NBA debut in April 2022, the 6-foot-7 shooter has played in 82 regular-season contests and built a 40.2 percent career mark from three-point range.

With four years of NBA service, Ryan is no longer eligible for a two-way slot. To secure a place on New York’s 15-man roster, he must earn a standard contract during camp.

The Knicks face hard-cap constraints and already have a crowded field vying for what is projected to be one open spot. Veterans Landry Shamet, Malcolm Brogdon, and Garrison Mathews are also expected to compete for that position unless the club creates additional flexibility through a trade.

SNY’s Ian Begley first reported earlier this week that the organization was considering Ryan for a camp invitation.
