The New York Knicks have reached a one-year, non-guaranteed agreement with free-agent shooting guard Landry Shamet, according to his agent, George S. Langberg.
Stefan Bondy of The New York Post reports that the 28-year-old will compete with Garrison Mathews for a regular-season roster spot. Shamet considered offers from other clubs but opted to return to New York after enjoying last season’s locker-room environment and the opportunity to chase a championship, Ian Begley of SNY adds.
The contract is valued at $3,080,921 for the 2025-26 campaign, while the Knicks will carry a $2,296,274 cap hit. With the organization hard-capped at the second tax apron, cap analyst Keith Smith notes that the club had room for only one veteran and one rookie minimum deal.
Shamet, the 26th overall pick in 2018, is entering his eighth NBA season. He appeared in 50 games for New York last year after missing the opening weeks with a shoulder injury, averaging 5.7 points and 1.2 rebounds in 15.2 minutes while shooting 39.7 percent from three-point range. His career has included stops with the 76ers, Clippers, Nets, Suns and Wizards before signing an Exhibit 9 deal with the Knicks in 2024.
Once the signing becomes official, New York will have 13 guaranteed contracts on its standard roster. All three two-way slots remain available, and Kevin McCullar Jr. is still a two-way restricted free agent.
