PORTLAND, Ore. — Guard Josh Hart, sidelined for eight games with a right ankle sprain, could be back in the lineup Sunday when the New York Knicks face the Trail Blazers, according to the New York Post. “If this is my left ankle, I’m back by now,” Hart said, noting prior injuries to the other ankle. “This was a good one. After this, I won’t have any ligaments to sprain.” New York is 3-5 during Hart’s absence, dropping five of its last six.
Lottery-Pick Watch
Trae Young’s presence on the Wizards theoretically strengthens Washington and increases the chance the team conveys its top-eight protected 2026 first-round pick to New York. Nonetheless, the Post reports the Wizards plan to let Young rest nagging injuries rather than push for wins this season.
Brunson’s Late-Game Struggles
Jalen Brunson went 1-for-6 in the fourth quarter and committed two turnovers in the final 95 seconds of Friday’s 112-107 loss to Phoenix. “I just need to be better down the stretch and be more fundamental,” the guard said.
Robinson’s Free-Agency Outlook
Center Mitchell Robinson will enter unrestricted free agency this summer. The Post notes that his postseason performance will heavily influence his market, with the Wizards, Clippers, Lakers, Jazz, Nets and Bulls among clubs projected to hold significant cap space. ESPN’s Bobby Marks estimates Robinson could command a deal starting at the full mid-level exception.
McBride Emphasizes Defense
Backup guard Miles McBride told the Post he believes he can become “one of the best point-of-attack defenders in the NBA,” adding that defensive intensity fuels the Knicks’ transition offense.
Yabusele Sits with Quad Issue
Forward Guerschon Yabusele missed Friday’s game due to a quad injury after logging eight points in 13 minutes against the Clippers on Wednesday. Head coach Mike Brown said the team needs him attacking the rim and rebounding when he returns.
