The New York Knicks announced that swingman Josh Hart will remain sidelined for at least one more week as he recovers from a sprained right ankle suffered on December 25. According to the team, the 30-year-old has resumed light on-court activity and will be reevaluated in seven days.
Center Mitchell Robinson missed his third consecutive game in Friday’s loss to Atlanta while the club manages a left ankle issue. Head coach Mike Brown said Robinson has experienced no setbacks but acknowledged the 7-footer’s defensive impact. “We’d rather have him than not,” Brown told reporters. “When we do, he protects us on the back side in a lot of different ways.”
Karl-Anthony Towns was a game-time decision Friday because of an illness. After completing his warm-up, the five-time All-Star determined he was not well enough to play, marking his third absence of the season.
With Hart unavailable, second-year wing Kevin McCullar Jr. has entered the rotation and drawn praise from Brown. “He’s tough,” the coach said. “He does all the little things that don’t always show up in the box score—defending without fouling, hitting the glass, understanding personnel. He just has a good feel along with that toughness.”
