New York Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson is learning Mike Brown’s up-tempo offense after years under the slower pace favored by former coach Tom Thibodeau. Through two preseason games, results have been mixed.

“I’m comfortable,” Brunson said. “We’re still adjusting, and that’s the process of this entire season.” Brown believes the transition is moving in the right direction, noting the added floor spacing should benefit his lead guard. “If you want to pressure a guy like Jalen with that much space, there’s a pretty good chance he can make you pay,” the coach said.

Giannis Trade Talk Still Hovers

The Athletic’s James Edwards III and Fred Katz reported that New York has at least discussed Milwaukee’s Giannis Antetokounmpo, but both writers concluded the Knicks lack the draft picks and young assets that potential suitors such as Houston and San Antonio could provide.

Early Depth-Chart Projections

Edwards’ preseason rotation forecast has Mitchell Robinson starting at center in a bigger lineup, with Josh Hart moving to a reserve role. Miles McBride, offseason additions Jordan Clarkson and Guerschon Yabusele are projected to log steady minutes off the bench, while the 10th spot remains open.

Clarkson Relishes Return to Contention

After three years on a rebuilding Utah roster, Clarkson told the New York Post he is eager to play meaningful games again. “That’s a different high,” he said. “I wanted to compete in the playoffs and be on a winning team that’s playing for something.”

Hart Sidelined by Back Spasms

Hart missed practice for the second straight day Tuesday because of back spasms and is listed as day-to-day, according to Edwards.
