The New York Knicks have reversed their intention to raise a banner commemorating this season’s NBA Cup championship, according to the New York Post. A league source told the newspaper the organization opted against the display because it remains “focused on the bigger picture.”

Head coach Mike Brown had informed players before Tuesday’s final that a banner would follow a victory, echoing the Bucks’ and Lakers’ celebrations after winning the tournament in 2023 and 2024. Despite the change of heart, the club still plans to celebrate the in-season title before Friday’s home game against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Hart’s Return Sparks Surge

New York has captured nine of its last 10 games since Josh Hart rejoined the starting lineup. Brown told ESPN that a candid November meeting with Hart was a turning point, noting the guard accepted responsibility for an underwhelming start after a preseason injury limited his court time.

Adjustments to the Offense

Opposing coaches believe Brown has recently dialed back his early-season offensive overhaul. “It seems like they’re settling into personnel,” Raptors coach Darko Rajaković said to The Athletic, adding that the Knicks are leaning more on their stars’ strengths while maintaining ball and body movement.

Key Bench Contributions

Although OG Anunoby (28 points) and Jalen Brunson (25) led the scoring in Tuesday’s title game, several reserves made decisive impacts:

  • Mitchell Robinson grabbed 10 offensive rebounds in just 18 minutes.
  • Tyler Kolek posted 14 points and five rebounds—figures that would be career highs if the contest counted toward regular-season statistics.

Earlier Wednesday, Hoops Rumors detailed how several Knicks players received a $531,000 bonus for the NBA Cup victory.
