New York guard Miles McBride hurt his left ankle in the third quarter of Sunday’s victory over Orlando and is now being examined by team medical staff.

Video of the play shows McBride driving left and being fouled by Desmond Bane on a layup attempt. Bane’s left foot appeared to land on McBride’s left ankle. The 25-year-old rose without assistance and stayed on the court to shoot two free throws but soon signaled for a substitution and left with a noticeable limp.

The Knicks said after the game that McBride is being evaluated for a left ankle injury and plan to provide an update Monday. An initial X-ray was negative, and an MRI is scheduled for the following day.

Through 19 appearances this season, the former second-round pick is averaging 12.0 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 27.3 minutes while hitting 46.2 percent of his three-point attempts.

Additional Injury Note

Forward Karl-Anthony Towns was ruled out of Sunday’s game with left calf tightness after being listed as questionable. The issue, which seemed to bother him during Friday’s win over Utah, is not believed to be serious, according to team personnel.
