Free-agent guard Landry Shamet is returning to the New York Knicks on a one-year agreement, agent George S. Langberg told ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The deal keeps the 27-year-old in New York for a second straight season and marks his eighth year in the NBA. Shamet appeared in 50 games for the Knicks in 2023-24, averaging 5.7 points across 15.2 minutes while shooting 46 percent from the field and just under 40 percent from three-point range.
His return gives head coach Tom Thibodeau another reliable floor-spacer as the front office continues to evaluate its remaining roster openings. New York recently explored options involving Ben Simmons and has also been linked to Malcolm Brogdon.
Drafted 26th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers in 2018, Shamet has built a reputation as a dependable rotation shooter. He owns career averages of 7.7 points per game and 39 percent three-point accuracy during stops with the 76ers, Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets, Phoenix Suns, Washington Wizards, and Knicks.
