NEW YORK — Multiple NBA clubs are closely tracking Giannis Antetokounmpo’s status with the Milwaukee Bucks, league insider Chris Haynes reported. The New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs and Minnesota Timberwolves are all keeping tabs on the two-time MVP, though no deal is imminent.

Milwaukee’s position remains firm: Antetokounmpo is not available unless he personally requests a move, according to league sources. To date, the 29-year-old forward has not asked out.

The attention comes after Milwaukee’s early postseason exits the past three years, which have raised questions around the league about the franchise’s long-term direction. Some executives believe continued struggles could eventually force a difficult conversation between team and star.

Antetokounmpo, who reportedly explored trade possibilities before this season and expressed interest in the Knicks at that time, is earning $54.1 million in 2023-24 and holds a $62.8 million player option for 2027-28. His contract does not include a no-trade clause.

When healthy, the seven-time All-Star continues to produce at an elite level, averaging 28.9 points, 10.1 rebounds and 6.1 assists while shooting nearly 64 percent from the field. He is currently sidelined by a right calf strain.

Several connections fuel speculation. Antetokounmpo shares agent Alex Saratsis of Octagon with Miami’s Bam Adebayo; Warriors guard Stephen Curry is also an Octagon client. San Antonio is believed to have preserved trade assets this offseason with the Bucks star in mind, and Minnesota, fresh off consecutive Western Conference finals appearances, is widely viewed as one player short of title contention.

For now, Milwaukee insists its franchise cornerstone is staying put. Unless Antetokounmpo changes his stance, the Bucks’ message remains unchanged.
