The Sacramento Kings plan to sign free-agent guard Killian Hayes to a 10-day contract, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Roster and contract details
Sacramento currently has an open spot on its standard roster, so no corresponding move is required. As a five-year NBA veteran, Hayes will earn $153,330 during the 10-day stint, while the Kings assume a $131,970 cap hit.
Hayes’ recent journey
Detroit drafted Hayes seventh overall in 2020, but the Pistons waived him in February 2024 after ongoing efficiency struggles. Since leaving Detroit, the 24-year-old has spent most of his time in the NBA G League. He averaged 17.3 points, 7.4 assists, 5.4 rebounds and 2.0 steals on .463/.371/.689 shooting across 33 games for Long Island, the Brooklyn Nets’ affiliate, last season.
Hayes made a brief NBA return in 2024-25, appearing in six games for Brooklyn on a 10-day deal. He later accepted an Exhibit 10 agreement with Cleveland, qualifying for a bonus by playing with the Cavaliers’ affiliate, the Cleveland Charge. Over 28 games with the Charge this season, he is posting 23.1 points, 8.3 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.7 steals while shooting .468/.325/.800.
The forthcoming agreement with Sacramento gives Hayes another opportunity to secure an NBA role as the Kings push through the current campaign.
