The Sacramento Kings have signed swingman DaQuan Jeffries to a 10-day hardship deal, according to the NBA’s official transaction log.
The agreement, first noted by Keith Smith of Spotrac, lets Sacramento add a 16th player without releasing anyone. Hardship exemptions are granted when at least four players have missed three consecutive games and are expected to be sidelined for a minimum of two more weeks.
The Kings meet that requirement with Zach LaVine (hand), Domantas Sabonis (knee), DeAndre Hunter (eye) and Drew Eubanks (thumb) all out for the season. Russell Westbrook (foot), Nique Clifford (foot) and Keegan Murray (ankle) are also injured, though Westbrook and Clifford have not yet reached the three-game threshold and Murray may return within the next couple of weeks.
Jeffries, 28, began his NBA career with Sacramento in 2019 after going undrafted out of Tulsa. He has appeared in 111 regular-season games with the Kings, Rockets, Grizzlies, Knicks and Hornets, averaging 4.6 points and 2.1 rebounds in 15.9 minutes while shooting 41.5 percent from the field, 31.5 percent from three and 78.3 percent at the foul line.
This season, the 6-foot-5 guard/forward has played exclusively for the G League’s Stockton Kings, posting 21.2 points, 5.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game on 50.6/42.0/84.3 shooting over 35 appearances.
The 10-day contract is worth $165,197 and runs through April 4, covering Sacramento’s next five games. The move will cost the Kings $131,970 against the salary cap.
