Kings Reportedly Shopping Most of Roster, With Keegan Murray and Nique Clifford Untouchable

The Sacramento Kings have begun fielding trade calls and are willing to discuss almost every player on the roster, according to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.

Team executives told Fischer that Sacramento’s front office is searching for a reset after starting the season 4-13 and dropping eight consecutive games by double digits before upsetting the Denver Nuggets on Saturday night. That victory in Denver marked just the Nuggets’ second home loss of the year.

Two Players Deemed Off Limits

Fourth-year forward Keegan Murray and rookie guard Nique Clifford are reportedly not available in trade talks. Internally, the Kings view both players as foundational pieces, and they are the only members of the roster with contracts extending past the 2027-28 season.

Sabonis Presents a Complicated Decision

All-Star center Domantas Sabonis remains a more complicated figure in potential negotiations. Owner Vivek Ranadivé is said to be a strong supporter, and Sabonis enjoys playing in Sacramento, making a trade request unlikely. However, his maximum contract and league-wide questions about his rim protection and three-point shooting complicate any effort to obtain equal value.

“It’s tough to pay a center that much who doesn’t protect the rim and doesn’t shoot threes, no matter how great an offensive hub he can be,” one Western Conference executive told Fischer.

For now, Saturday’s win gave the Kings a short reprieve from their early-season slide, but league sources indicate that the organization will continue to evaluate every option as the trade market develops.
