Kings’ Eubanks Sidelined At Least Three Weeks With Left Thumb Fracture

Sacramento Kings center Drew Eubanks sustained an avulsion fracture in his left thumb and is expected to be out for a minimum of three weeks, the team announced through KCRA’s Sean Cunningham on Saturday.
The injury was suffered during Thursday’s loss to the Denver Nuggets, forcing the 28-year-old to exit after just four minutes of action. An MRI conducted Saturday confirmed the fracture, and the club will re-evaluate him in approximately 21 days.
Eubanks had moved into the starting lineup in mid-November after Domantas Sabonis went down with a torn meniscus. In recent games, rookie big man Maxime Raynaud has taken over that spot, averaging 13.3 points and 9.0 rebounds over his last three outings.
Signed over the summer to a one-year, minimum-salary deal, Eubanks has appeared in 25 contests, logging 11 starts while posting 5.3 points and 2.8 rebounds in 14.4 minutes per game and shooting 61.5 percent from the floor.
Sacramento is the sixth NBA stop in eight seasons for the Oregon State product. He was traded from Utah to the L.A. Clippers at last season’s trade deadline, then became a free agent when the Clippers waived him in July to avoid guaranteeing his $4.5 million salary.
With Eubanks sidelined and Sabonis still rehabbing, head coach Mike Brown may lean more heavily on Precious Achiuwa and Dario Šarić for frontcourt minutes.
