Kawhi Leonard Trade Scenario Would Send Clippers Star to Warriors

Bleacher Report writer Greg Swartz has outlined a potential offseason deal that would move Kawhi Leonard from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Golden State Warriors.

Proposed terms: Golden State would acquire Leonard, while Los Angeles would receive Jimmy Butler, rookie guard Brandin Podziemski and a 2026 first-round draft pick.

Swartz’s premise assumes the Clippers are ready for a broader reset after hypothetically moving James Harden and Ivica Zubac. Leonard, who turns 35 in June, remains an elite performer but has faced durability concerns throughout his career.

Pairing Leonard with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green would give the Warriors another elite defender and efficient scorer. Swartz also noted that bringing back big man Kristaps Porzingis—another hypothetical move—could round out a veteran core built around defense, shooting and postseason experience.

Leonard is averaging 28.3 points per game this season on strong shooting splits, numbers that place him in MVP-level territory when healthy. For Golden State, the proposal represents the type of aggressive swing the franchise might take as Curry’s championship window narrows.

For the Clippers, Butler would provide a different competitive edge, Podziemski would offer youth, and the 2026 first-round pick would help replenish future assets.

With several clubs expected to explore major changes this summer, Swartz suggested Leonard’s name could be among the most prominent in trade discussions.
