Anadolu Efes has added NBA free agent Kai Jones, the Turkish club confirmed on Wednesday.

The 24-year-old center agreed to a deal that reportedly features a January exit clause, according to Eurohoops and BasketNews reporter Donatas Urbonas. The provision would allow Jones to pursue an NBA opportunity midway through the 2024-25 season.

Selected 19th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft, Jones spent last season with both the Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks. He appeared in 40 games, averaging 5.0 points and 3.1 rebounds in just under 12 minutes per outing while converting 79.8 percent of his field-goal attempts.

Jones opened 2023-24 on a two-way contract with the Clippers before being waived on March 1 to clear roster space. Dallas signed him shortly afterward to fortify its injury-depleted frontcourt, and he provided reserve minutes down the stretch.

The 6-foot-11 big man recently worked out for the Miami Heat and was linked to Italian power Virtus Bologna, but opted for Anadolu Efes, a perennial contender in both the Turkish league and EuroLeague competition.

Jones will look to reset his career in Istanbul while keeping a potential NBA return in play when the contract’s exit window arrives.
