Veteran forward Joe Ingles is exploring a move back to Australia’s National Basketball League after the NBA season, according to ESPN’s Olgun Uluc.
The 38-year-old has played 12 seasons in the NBA and is currently on a one-year minimum deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Since arriving in Minnesota in 2024, the 6-foot-8 wing has appeared in 44 games, averaging 4.9 minutes per outing while serving primarily as a locker-room leader.
Uluc reported that Melbourne United and the South East Melbourne Phoenix have both held preliminary talks with Ingles, while the Adelaide 36ers have emerged as an aggressive suitor. The South Dragons, the Melbourne club where Ingles played from 2006 to 2009 before going undrafted, no longer operate.
Before joining the NBA in 2014, the Australian native spent time in Spain and Israel, building a résumé that eventually led to a long stint with the Utah Jazz and later roles with Milwaukee and Orlando.
Ingles will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason, giving him the flexibility to decide between continuing his NBA career or returning home to the NBL.
