New York — August 31, 2025: Former NBA guard Jeremy Lin announced his retirement from professional basketball on Sunday, ending a 15-year run that spanned eight NBA franchises and multiple international stops.
In an Instagram post, the 37-year-old wrote that stepping away from the game was “the hardest decision I’ve ever made,” thanking those who “believed in me, walked with me, celebrated my highs and picked me up in my lows.”
Lin appeared in 480 regular-season NBA contests between 2010 and 2019, averaging 11.6 points and 4.3 assists in 25.5 minutes per game. His NBA journey included stints with the Warriors, Knicks, Rockets, Lakers, Hornets, Nets, Hawks and Raptors.
He reached global prominence during the 2011-12 “Linsanity” stretch with New York, posting 14.6 points, 6.2 assists and 1.6 steals over 35 games. During a seven-game winning streak that February, he averaged 25.0 points and 9.2 assists.
After leaving the NBA, Lin played in China for the Beijing Ducks and Guangzhou Loong Lions, then in Taiwan with the Kaohsiung 17LIVE Steelers and New Taipei Kings. He also logged time in the G League with the Santa Cruz Warriors.
