Maccabi Tel Aviv confirmed on August 5 that it has signed point guard Jeff Dowtin Jr. to a three-year contract, adding another former NBA player to its backcourt.
Details of the deal were not disclosed, but reporting by Marc Stein indicates the agreement includes NBA opt-out clauses. On August 4, agent Bill Neff had told Stein that the sides were finalizing a two-year pact with a mutual option for the second season, but the club’s announcement clarified the term as three years.
Dowtin, 28, drew interest from multiple European teams before choosing the Israeli powerhouse. He spent last season with the Philadelphia 76ers on a two-way contract after joining the club in March 2024. The 6-foot-3 guard appeared in 41 NBA games, averaging 7.0 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists across 15.1 minutes while shooting 48.7 percent from the field, 40.0 percent from three and 73.3 percent at the foul line.
Undrafted out of Rhode Island in 2020, Dowtin initially signed with Orlando but did not debut in the league until Golden State claimed him off waivers in 2021. He later logged a 10-day stint with Milwaukee, returned to Orlando on another 10-day contract and spent parts of two seasons with Toronto before landing in Philadelphia.

Dowtin is the third member of last season’s 76ers roster to join Maccabi Tel Aviv. The club announced the signing of Lonnie Walker IV earlier on August 5, while forward Oshae Brissett agreed to terms in July.
