The Utah Jazz have released guard Vince Williams Jr., the team confirmed Tuesday, creating an open spot on the 15-man roster.

Williams, 23, tore the ACL in his left knee during a Feb. 23 game against the Houston Rockets, only his sixth appearance with Utah. The season-ending injury is expected to sideline him well into the 2026-27 campaign.

Selected 47th overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2022 NBA Draft, Williams was traded to the Jazz last month along with Jaren Jackson Jr. and two additional players. He averaged 4.7 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 20.5 minutes over six games for Utah. Before the deal, the former Toledo standout logged 34 games with Memphis, posting 8.0 points, 4.4 assists and 4.0 rebounds in 21.6 minutes per contest.

Williams is earning $2.3 million this season. Utah held a $2.5 million team option for 2026-27, which will now be declined.

The Jazz, already hit hard by injuries to Jackson, Jusuf Nurkić and Walker Kessler, also remain without Lauri Markkanen because of a hip issue. Following Williams’ release, Utah carries 13 players on standard contracts plus center Mo Bamba on a 10-day deal.
