The Utah Jazz are finalizing a 10-day contract with rookie guard Bez Mbeng, according to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.
Mbeng, 6’4”, has spent this season with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the Miami Heat’s NBA G League affiliate. In 41 games, he is averaging 6.5 points, 5.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.8 steals across 27.5 minutes per contest.
The Heat originally signed the former Yale standout to a training-camp deal in mid-October before waiving him, leading him to join their G League squad. Renowned for his perimeter defense, Mbeng went undrafted last June after earning Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year honors in each of his last three college seasons. He also captured the conference’s Player of the Year award in 2024-25.
During his senior year with the Bulldogs, Mbeng posted 13.0 points, 5.8 assists, 5.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals while shooting .429/.368/.699 in 29 appearances (32.7 minutes). He helped Yale reach the NCAA tournament three times and graduated as the school’s all-time leader in steals.
Utah currently has Mo Bamba and Andersson Garcia on 10-day contracts that run through next week. The Jazz will need to clear a roster spot before Mbeng can officially join the team.
