SALT LAKE CITY, Sept. 22, 2025—The Utah Jazz have formally signed former Ole Miss guard Matthew Murrell, the club confirmed Tuesday in a press release.

The agreement completes a move first reported on June 27, when ESPN’s Jonathan Givony said the sides had reached terms. Contract details were not disclosed, but the pact is expected to be an Exhibit 10 deal that can be converted into a two-way slot or provide a bonus if Murrell is waived and spends at least 60 days with the Salt Lake City Stars, the Jazz’s NBA G League affiliate.

Murdering averaged 10.8 points for the Rebels as a super senior while shooting 31.9 percent from beyond the arc—both figures below his career marks. He closed the season on a high note, delivering 15 points, four rebounds and two steals in an NCAA tournament Round-of-32 victory over Iowa State that helped push Ole Miss to the Sweet 16.

Known for his on-ball defense, the 23-year-old posted 1.8 steals per game last season and was described by Givony as one of the most explosive athletes in the 2025 draft class. Murrell appeared 93rd on ESPN’s final pre-draft big board and became automatically draft-eligible after previously testing the waters in 2023 and 2024.
