Salt Lake City, Aug. 10, 2025 — The Utah Jazz plan to keep forward Georges Niang on their roster after acquiring him from the Boston Celtics, Jake Fischer of The Stein Line reported.
Niang, 32, is familiar with Utah; he played four of his first five NBA seasons with the Jazz after debuting with the Indiana Pacers. During his previous stint in Salt Lake City, the 6-foot-7 forward averaged 5.5 points and 1.9 rebounds while shooting 41.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Last season, Niang split time between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Atlanta Hawks. He produced a career-best 12.1 points in 23 minutes per game over 28 contests for Atlanta.
Team officials view Niang as a steady veteran presence in a young locker room. If Kevin Love, who is reportedly considering a buyout, departs, Niang would become the oldest player on Utah’s roster.
The Jazz received Niang and two second-round picks from Boston in exchange for undrafted rookie RJ Luis, a move designed to reduce salary for the Celtics.
