Free-agent guard Jared Butler has reached an agreement with Crvena Zvezda, the Belgrade club announced Thursday on X. The move places the 25-year-old in both the EuroLeague and the ABA League for the 2025/26 campaign.
Butler arrives after four seasons in the NBA, where he appeared in 148 regular-season games. His largest role came in 2024/25 with Washington and Philadelphia, logging 60 contests and averaging 9.0 points, 3.7 assists and 1.8 rebounds across 17.4 minutes, while shooting .448 from the field, .355 from three and .824 at the line.
The 6’3″ point guard signed a non-guaranteed training-camp deal with Phoenix in July and impressed during the preseason, putting up 15.5 points, 4.2 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 20.9 minutes over four games. His run included a 35-point, nine-assist outing last Tuesday. Despite the performance, the Suns—operating slightly above the luxury-tax threshold—chose not to carry a 15th player and waived him last week.
After clearing waivers, Butler drew interest from several European clubs, including KK Partizan and Olympiacos. A report from Konstantinos Melayes of Sport24, relayed by BasketNews, indicated that Crvena Zvezda secured Butler’s commitment by offering a starting role and substantial minutes.
