LOS ANGELES — LeBron James appeared in his 1,612th regular-season contest on Saturday, surpassing Robert Parish for the most games played in NBA history.
“It just kind of happened,” the Lakers forward said after the milestone outing. “I’ve always prided myself on trying to be as available as possible.”
Lakers Win Ninth Straight on Kennard’s Late Three
Los Angeles stretched its winning streak to nine by edging Orlando 105-104. Luke Kennard, acquired from Atlanta last month and headed for free agency this summer, buried the deciding three-pointer with one second left. “I didn’t really know what was going on, I was just screaming,” Kennard said. “To win a game like that is pretty special.”
Suns Short-Handed in Narrow Loss
Phoenix fell 108-105 to Milwaukee on Saturday while missing six players. Interim coach Jordan Ott expressed frustration with the revolving roster. “We just want everyone back,” he said. The Suns had dropped five in a row before defeating Toronto 120-98 on Sunday.
Kings Add to Injury List
Sacramento has won five of its last eight, but two more players went down during the weekend victory over Brooklyn. Rookie first-round pick Nique Clifford exited in the fourth quarter with a twisted ankle, and recent addition Killian Hayes suffered a toe injury. “It sucks, especially for the young guys,” veteran forward DeMar DeRozan said.
