Phoenix Suns guard Jalen Green has been listed as probable for Thursday’s road game against the Los Angeles Clippers, positioning the fifth-year scorer for both his season debut and first appearance in a Suns uniform.

Green, 23, arrived in Phoenix in the offseason deal that sent Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets. A right hamstring strain sustained early in training camp sidelined him for the entire preseason and the first eight regular-season contests, during which the Suns went 3-5.

First-year head coach Jordan Ott has shuffled starting lineups while Green and fellow former Rocket Dillon Brooks recover from injuries. Green’s return is expected to solidify the backcourt rotation alongside Devin Booker.

Across 307 career regular-season games, the 6-foot-4 shooting guard owns averages of 20.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists, though he has at times battled inconsistency with shot selection and defensive focus. During the summer, he expressed enthusiasm about partnering with Booker to create a “two-headed” scoring and playmaking combination.

Phoenix will still be short-handed Thursday; Brooks remains out with the core muscle strain that has kept him sidelined for the past five games.
