Mavericks
Kyrie Irving accompanied the Dallas Mavericks to Sacramento and completed a workout with assistant coach Phil Handy after Tuesday’s shootaround, signaling progress in his recovery. Although the team still has not set a return date, Irving’s inclusion on the three-game road trip is viewed internally as a positive development.
Dallas also listed forward P.J. Washington as day-to-day. He missed Saturday’s contest with a right ankle sprain.
Nets
The Brooklyn Nets will retain guards Tyrese Martin and Jalen Wilson past the league’s salary-guarantee deadline, according to multiple reports. Both players were on non-guaranteed contracts; the decision locks in Martin’s $2,191,897 salary and Wilson’s $2,221,677 for the season.
Martin, a second-round pick out of UConn, averaged 8.7 points last season and continues to hold a rotation spot despite a slight dip in production. Wilson, selected in the 2023 second round, has moved to a bench role after starting 22 games as a rookie and is averaging 4.9 points in limited minutes.
Brooklyn still has more than $15 million in cap space ahead of the trade deadline. If Martin and Wilson complete their current deals, both will become restricted free agents in 2026.
76ers
Philadelphia expects reinforcements Wednesday, as forwards Kelly Oubre Jr. and Trendon Watford were upgraded to probable after participating in shootaround. Oubre has been out since mid-November with a left knee sprain, while Watford has not played since Nov. 25 because of a left adductor strain. The duo was enjoying strong seasons before the injuries.
