Munich, Germany, Jan. 4, 2026 — Bayern Munich announced that veteran guard Spencer Dinwiddie has ended his tenure with the club by mutual agreement. The 32-year-old, who left Germany before Christmas to be with a seriously ill family member in the United States, said he is “currently not in a position to play.”
Dinwiddie signed a one-year, minimum-salary deal with the Charlotte Hornets in July, but was waived on Oct. 16 amid a preseason roster crunch. He joined Bayern one week later, marking his first professional stop outside the NBA after 11 seasons in the league.
Silva switches from Athens to Istanbul
Forward/center Chris Silva, 29, is moving from AEK Athens to reigning EuroLeague champion Fenerbahce. The former NBA big man had attracted interest from several EuroLeague teams before choosing the Turkish powerhouse.
De Colo reunites with Fenerbahce
Fenerbahce is also set to sign former NBA guard Nando De Colo following his departure from LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne. ASVEL said it respected De Colo’s desire to join the Istanbul club and thanked him for his “integrity and professionalism.”
Political concerns over NBA’s European plans
European lawmakers are voicing objections to the NBA’s proposed European league, according to multiple Eurohoops reports. January is expected to be pivotal both for the NBA initiative and for the EuroLeague, which is awaiting confirmation from four clubs — including Fenerbahce and ASVEL — on whether they will remain in the competition for the 2026-27 season.
