Third-year guard Marcus Sasser has been assigned to the Motor City Cruise for practice as he continues his recovery from a right hip impingement, the Pistons announced Sunday. Detroit indicated three weeks ago that Sasser would be re-evaluated in roughly four weeks, suggesting an updated medical review is imminent. The 25-year-old has not played this season after averaging 6.6 points, 1.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists over 57 games in 2024/25.

The Lakers held out LeBron James for Sunday’s matchup with New Orleans due to left foot injury management. The contest marked the first half of a back-to-back set, with Los Angeles scheduled to face Phoenix on Monday.

Marcus Smart missed his second straight game Sunday because of back spasms, according to the league’s official injury report.

The Suns downgraded center Mark Williams (right calf soreness) and forward Ryan Dunn (right wrist sprain) from questionable to out ahead of Saturday’s loss to Denver. Head coach Jordan Ott said Williams’ knee has responded well in recent weeks, but the calf issue surfaced during Friday’s game in Oklahoma City. Ott described Dunn’s status as contingent on pain tolerance and flexibility in his shooting wrist, adding that the rookie’s return could come “relatively soon.” Dunn has missed five consecutive games.

Warriors forward Jimmy Butler took a hard fall during Saturday’s win over New Orleans but told reporters he expects to be available Tuesday against Oklahoma City. Through 19 appearances, the six-time All-Star is averaging 20.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 1.6 steals while shooting 52.7% from the field and 43.6% from three-point range.
