San Antonio guard Stephon Castle left Tuesday’s 116-110 victory over the Lakers in the second quarter after a hard fall and did not return. The Spurs labeled the issue a pelvic contusion. Castle told reporters he believes the injury is minor and hopes to play Wednesday night in Golden State, the back end of a back-to-back. Head coach Mitch Johnson said the second-year guard is expected to be “pretty sore,” and the club could elect to rest him with the All-Star break beginning after Wednesday’s game.
Wizards’ Tre Johnson cleared
Rookie guard Tre Johnson has been removed from the injury report following a six-game absence caused by a left ankle sprain. He is expected to rejoin the starting lineup when the Wizards visit Cleveland on Wednesday, their final contest before the break. Johnson had started 17 straight games prior to the injury.
Kings rule out six players
The struggling Kings, who have dropped 13 consecutive games, listed six players as out for Wednesday’s matchup with Utah. Domantas Sabonis (left knee injury management), Keegan Murray (left ankle sprain), Malik Monk (illness), and De’Andre Hunter (left eye iritis) were joined on the inactive list by Russell Westbrook (left ankle soreness) and Zach LaVine (right fifth-finger tendon injury).
Nets sit Michael Porter Jr. again
Michael Porter Jr. will miss his second straight game when the Nets host Indiana on Wednesday due to right knee tendinitis. Head coach Jordi Fernandez said the condition is not considered serious and is unrelated to the sprained MCL Porter sustained in the same knee earlier this season.
