Former Cleveland Cavaliers guard Iman Shumpert compared LeBron James to an artificial-intelligence tool during an appearance on the “Club Shay Shay” podcast released on Feb. 26, 2026.
“You can ask him anything, he knows,” Shumpert said of his onetime teammate with the Cavaliers, calling the Los Angeles Lakers star “ChatGPT” in human form when it comes to basketball knowledge.
Shumpert noted that James’ recall covers “coaches, assistants, [and] player development,” adding that most elite players offer a single tip, while James “gives you the learning curve.”
Teammates have long praised James for sharing strategy, explaining concepts, and raising the level of those around him—a trait often referred to as high basketball IQ or leadership. Shumpert’s new comparison casts that ability in a modern light.
