CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Hornets waived swingman DaQuan Jeffries on Thursday, trimming their training-camp roster to 20 players.
Jeffries, 28, had been under contract through the 2026/27 season, but the deal carried no guarantees for 2025/26 or 2026/27. His $2,743,776 salary for 2025/26 would have become fully guaranteed if he had remained with the club after Jan. 7.
The 6-foot-5 wing arrived in Charlotte last October from New York as part of the multi-team trade that sent Karl-Anthony Towns to the Knicks. In his first season with the Hornets, Jeffries appeared in a career-high 47 games, starting 20, and averaged 6.7 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists while shooting 40.5% from the field and 33.5% from three-point range.
Jeffries has logged 111 NBA appearances since entering the league, with previous stops in Sacramento, Houston and Memphis.
Following Thursday’s move, Charlotte holds 16 players on guaranteed contracts and one on a non-guaranteed deal, leaving the front office with additional cuts to make before the 15-man regular-season limit takes effect on opening night.
