Hornets Back Away From Chris Paul After Offseason Inquiry

The Charlotte Hornets explored a possible move for veteran point guard Chris Paul during the offseason, but the idea stalled because the 12-time All-Star was reluctant to play far from his family in Los Angeles, league insider Marc Stein reported.

With Paul unwilling to relocate across the country, Charlotte is no longer viewed as a realistic destination, according to The Stein Line. The organization has since cooled on the pursuit.

Paul’s overall outlook could still change. Stein noted that the 38-year-old has become more receptive to destinations outside the Los Angeles area amid his current circumstances. He remains under contract with the LA Clippers and will become trade-eligible on Monday, opening a window for front-office discussions around the league.

How much interest materializes once Paul is eligible to be moved remains uncertain, but his market is expected to crystallize in the coming days.
