The Charlotte Hornets have completed their 21-man preseason roster by signing rookie forward Eric Dixon, the club announced on October 8.

Dixon, a 6’8” left-hander, was the highest-rated player to go undrafted in June, sitting No. 44 on ESPN’s pre-draft board. He led all Division I scorers last season at Villanova, averaging 23.3 points on .451/.407/.813 shooting while adding 5.1 rebounds over 35 games. His production earned him third-team All-American honors.

The 24-year-old initially reached a two-way agreement with the Los Angeles Lakers after the draft, but the deal shifted to a non-guaranteed Exhibit 10 contract amid concerns about a foot injury that kept him out of Summer League action. Los Angeles waived him last month, and plans had pointed toward Dixon joining the South Bay Lakers of the G League.

Instead, the forward now heads to Charlotte, where he is expected to sign another Exhibit 10 pact. If the Hornets waive him and he spends at least 60 days with their G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm, Dixon could collect a bonus of up to $85,300 on top of his standard G League salary. Charlotte currently has all three two-way slots filled.
