The Charlotte Hornets signed free-agent forward DJ Rodman and released guard Marcus Garrett, the club announced on Monday.
Contract specifics were not disclosed, but league sources indicate Rodman, 24, agreed to an Exhibit 10 deal. Garrett had been on the same type of contract. Exhibit 10 agreements can be converted to two-way contracts; however, all three of Charlotte’s two-way spots are currently filled.
Rodman, the son of Hall of Famer Dennis Rodman and brother of WNBA star Trinity Rodman, went undrafted out of USC in 2024. He split the 2024-25 G League season between the Capital City Go-Go and the Maine Celtics and later suited up for Charlotte’s Summer League team in July.
The 6-foot-6 wing played five collegiate seasons, spending time at Washington State before transferring to USC. Over 143 NCAA games, he averaged 6.1 points, 4.2 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 0.5 steals while shooting 41.1 percent from the field, 35.4 percent from three and 76.4 percent at the foul line.
If Rodman or Garrett joins the Hornets’ G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm, and remains for at least 60 days, either player would be eligible for a bonus of up to $85,300 under Exhibit 10 guidelines.
