Charlotte has transformed a 16-28 start into a late-season push that positions the team as a threat in the Eastern Conference play-in round.

The Hornets’ turnaround began in January, highlighted by victories over elite opponents such as the Thunder, Spurs and Celtics, according to ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk. That stretch has lifted Charlotte into the play-in picture with momentum on its side.

All-Star guard LaMelo Ball and forward Brandon Miller are both healthy entering the final week of the regular season and have led the recent surge. Rookie Kon Knueppel has also taken on an expanded role, playing with confidence that has propelled him into the Rookie of the Year conversation.

If Charlotte survives the play-in, the club could line up against the top-seeded Pistons in the opening round. Detroit is still working Cade Cunningham back from a recent injury, adding another variable to a potential matchup. A series against the Celtics would bring additional intrigue, as Hornets head coach Charles Lee previously served as a Boston assistant.

Charlotte’s uptempo offense and renewed confidence have made the Hornets a difficult assignment despite their limited postseason experience, prompting rivals to view them as a possible spoiler in the weeks ahead.
