CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte Hornets announced Monday that second-year wing Brandon Miller has suffered a left shoulder subluxation, a partial dislocation that will keep him out of Tuesday night’s game against the Miami Heat.
The club said Miller will be re-evaluated once the team returns to Charlotte. The Hornets’ next home contest is Thursday against the Orlando Magic, and an additional update could come before tip-off.
Miller, 22, was hurt in the second quarter of Saturday’s loss in Philadelphia. According to The Charlotte Observer, the injury occurred when he slipped while attempting to fight through a screen. He missed Sunday’s matchup in Washington and will now sit for a second straight game.
Data compiled by injury analyst Jeff Stotts shows that in-season shoulder subluxations not requiring surgery typically sideline NBA players for about 21 days. The Hornets have not indicated whether Miller might need surgical intervention.
The No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 draft played only 27 games last season after undergoing right wrist surgery. He opened the current season with 25 points and seven assists but has now logged just one full game.
With Miller unavailable over the weekend, head coach Mike D’Antoni leaned more heavily on Kon Knueppel, Collin Sexton and Sion James to fill the wing rotation.
