The Miami Heat have elevated guard Jahmir Young from a two-way slot to a standard NBA contract, the club announced Friday.

Agent Scott Nichols told ESPN’s Shams Charania that the agreement covers two seasons, with Young’s 2026/27 salary remaining non-guaranteed. The move, first reported by the Associated Press, makes the 25-year-old eligible for the upcoming postseason.

Miami enters the play-in tournament for the fourth consecutive year and must win twice to claim the Eastern Conference’s No. 8 seed.

Young, a 6’0″ guard who went undrafted in 2024, has logged just 55 minutes across 13 NBA appearances this season. His production was far more substantial in the G League: in 25 regular-season games with the Sioux Falls Skyforce, he averaged 26.0 points, 8.9 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 steals while shooting 47.1% from the field, 37.6% from three and 81.5% at the line.

The former Chicago Bulls two-way player was named G League Player of the Month in January and earned a spot on the All-NBAGL Second Team for 2025/26.

Miami opened a roster place earlier Friday by waiving Terry Rozier, who had been away from the team since his October arrest on federal charges tied to illegal gambling.
