The Miami Heat have secured a one-year agreement with forward-center Precious Achiuwa, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The contract is a non-guaranteed, minimum-salary deal, the Miami Herald reported.

The move, finalized on September 24, 2025, brings the 26-year-old back to the franchise that drafted him 20th overall in 2020. Achiuwa appeared in 61 games as a Heat rookie before being traded to the Toronto Raptors in the 2021 sign-and-trade that delivered Kyle Lowry to Miami.

Achiuwa split the 2023-24 campaign between Toronto and New York, ultimately playing 57 regular-season games for the Knicks, including 10 starts. He averaged 6.6 points and 5.6 rebounds over 20.5 minutes and saw limited floor time in eight playoff contests.

Miami had been linked to Achiuwa earlier this month while seeking additional depth at power forward and center. To complete the signing, the Heat will need to release a player from their fully staffed training-camp roster.

If Achiuwa earns a spot on the final 15-man roster, Miami’s payroll would slip slightly above the luxury-tax threshold. The team could still move back under the line before season-ending calculations are made at the trade deadline.
