The Miami Heat locked up forward Nikola Jovic on a four-year, $62.4 million rookie-scale extension, his representatives told ESPN’s Shams Charania. The agreement, which contains no team or player options, runs through the 2029-30 season.
Heat
Jovic, 22, is coming off a career-best campaign in which he averaged 10.7 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.8 assists while shooting 45.6 percent from the floor and 37.1 percent from three-point range. A fractured right hand sidelined him for two months in February, but he returned for the playoffs and poured in 24 points during Game 4 against Cleveland.
Selected 27th overall in the 2022 draft, the 6-foot-10 forward started 10 games last season after opening 38 the year before. He enters training camp aiming for a starting role, with a $4.4 million salary in the final year of his rookie deal.
The extension makes Jovic the only Miami player currently under contract beyond 2028-29. He joins Paolo Banchero, Chet Holmgren, Jabari Smith Jr. and Jalen Williams as 2022 first-round picks to land extensions ahead of the Oct. 20 deadline. The Heat must still decide on possible extensions for Tyler Herro and Norman Powell.
Pacers
The Indiana Pacers reached an Exhibit 10 agreement with Kyle Guy, the University of Nevada announced. Guy, 28, had joined Nevada’s coaching staff in April but will now report to the Pacers’ G League affiliate in Noblesville.
The 55th pick in the 2019 draft, Guy appeared in parts of three NBA seasons with Sacramento and Miami before playing overseas, most recently in Spain’s ACB League in 2024. Indiana’s training-camp roster is at the 21-player limit, so a corresponding move is required to finalize his deal. If he remains with the G League club for at least 60 days, he will be eligible for an $85,300 Exhibit 10 bonus.
Grizzlies
Frontcourt health remains the primary concern in Memphis. Jaren Jackson Jr. underwent turf-toe surgery on July 2 and is expected back in four to six weeks. Rookie center Zach Edey had left ankle surgery on June 10 and faces a six- to nine-week recovery.
Until they return, the Grizzlies will rely on Santi Aldama, Brandon Clarke and newcomer Jock Landale. Clarke missed 18 games late last season with a PCL sprain and recently had a procedure for knee synovitis; he will be reevaluated in six weeks.
Key contract dates also loom: Oct. 20 is the deadline to extend Ja Morant, John Konchar and Clarke, while Oct. 31 is the last day to exercise Edey’s third-year option.
