The Miami Heat have struck an agreement with free-agent guard Jahmir Young, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. The 24-year-old is expected to enter training camp on an Exhibit 10 deal that can be converted to a two-way contract, giving him a chance to claim the club’s last open two-way spot.
Young went undrafted out of Maryland in 2024 and began his pro career with the Grand Rapids Gold, the Denver Nuggets’ G League affiliate. He signed a two-way contract with the Chicago Bulls in February, appeared in six NBA games for a total of 30 minutes, and was waived in July when Chicago created roster space for guard Yuki Kawamura.
Across 43 G League contests with Grand Rapids and the Windy City Bulls, the 6-foot-1 point guard averaged 21.7 points, 7.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.9 steals. He finished the year shooting 39.7 percent from three-point range over his final 13 games and earned a spot on the G League All-Rookie Team, placing third in Rookie of the Year voting.
Although Young drew offseason interest from the Perth Wildcats of Australia’s NBL, he has opted to continue chasing an NBA role. Miami currently lists Vladislav Goldin and Myron Gardner in two-way positions, leaving one vacancy for Young and other camp invites to contest.
